Has won a stakes race at exact or related distance.

1. A national or regional champion, or a local division
leader that has won a Grade I stakes.

2. Multiple Grade 2 stakes winners that have placed or
finished close in a Grade I race.
3. A developing three-year-old that has won a Grade 2
stakes or important open stakes definitively,
suggesting still greater class in reserve.

1. Horses that have not won a Grade I or a Grade 2 race.
2. Grade I winners in questionable form.
3. All other horses

1. Grade I horse that lost last out when favored to win,
notably if that losing race was used as a prep for
today's Grade I objective.
2. Stable or trainer that wins Grade I races consistently.

At distances of a mile and one-quarter or beyond, prefer:
1. Horses having a dosage index of 4.0 or below.
2. Older horses that have won at the exact distance.
