FORM:

A big win in the maiden claiming race and has been racing and training regularly since.

DISTANCE:

Has won at today's exact distance, or against winners has finished within one length at today's or a related distance.

HANDICAPPER'S PREFER:

1. A good race under allowance conditions.
2. Horses showing an even effort or better under allowance conditions, especially high early speed to the second call.
3. Horses that combine a big win in the maiden-claiming race with a good race for a claiming price higher than the maiden-claiming price.

REGULAR ELIMINATIONS.

1. Maiden-claiming graduates that have failed to win at a claiming price below the maiden-claiming price.
2. Any horse that has lost more than tour races since the maiden-claiming win, unless the last line was an improved effort with a sharp clocking at today's level or better.
3. Horses that have been badly beaten under allowance conditions, unless they showed sharp early speed to the second call in ordinary time and manner.
4. Horses that have lost more than one of these starter races in ordinary time and manner.

EXTRA ADDED ATTRACTIONS:

1. Last running line is much improved, or clearly the best since the maiden-claiming win.
2. The last running line or two show acceptable races in allowance company, and prior to that the horse has beaten claiming conditions open to winners.
3. The horse beat maiden-claiming conditions in its first try by a wide margin with fast clockings and since has not lost repeatedly against claiming winners.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

1. The horse is younger and lightly-raced and is the only horse in the field to show an acceptable performance against allowance conditions
