STAKES AND HANDICAPS Grade I stakes, all ages. FORM: Most recent races and workouts signify best efforts. DISTANCE: Has won a stakes race at exact or related distance. HANDICAPPERS PREFER: 1. A national or regional champion, or a local division leader that has won a Grade I stakes. IN THE ABSENCE OF THE ABOVE, PREFER: 2. Multiple Grade 2 stakes winners that have placed or finished close in a Grade I race. REGULAR ELIMINATIONS: 1. Horses that have not won a Grade I or a Grade 2 race. EXTRA ADDED ATTRACTIONS: 1. Grade I horse that lost last out when favored to win, notably if that losing race was used as a prep for SPECIAL CONDITIONS: At distances of a mile and one-quarter or beyond, prefer: ON TURF, PREFER: 1. Previously graded stakes winners on turf.
