MAIDEN CLAIMING RACES NEGATIVE
RULES: CATCHALL
GUIDELINE: In analyzing maiden-claiming events, the class dropdown whether from straight maiden conditions or from a higher subclass of maiden-claiming races, always takes top priority. If no dropdowns impress, prefer first-starters to previous maiden-claiming losers at today's price level. One of the nastiest sucker bets in racing is the recent close finisher in a maiden-claiming race at today's selling level. The horses are slow, inveterate losers at the level, and wonderful candidates for the dust bin again today. Where should the maiden-claiming graduate be expected to win next? Cut the selling price of the maiden-claiming race in half, and expect the winner to repeat there, or thereabouts. |
