ONE-TURN MILE TO SPRINT

With a pair of simple adjustments, handicappers can obtain reliable pace ratings for sprints from the running lines of one-turn miles.
The adjustments to the one-mile times are these:

No adjustment to the 4F fractional time
Subtract two fifths from the 6F fractional time
Divide the beaten lengths at 6F by one half


Convert the adjusted times to a pace rating by the standard PDQ Pace procedure described in the Methods Section. Rate the pace of the race, the final time of the race, and the final position of the horse.
